  1. Oh, Poseidon. The cheapest water will always be the water not used.

    In a funny way, the Poseidon plant story reminds me of what we’re hearing from electrical utilities in the era of renewables. As more baseline power is provided by renewables, the cost of power from the peaker plant that is needed to cover the most extreme demand situation becomes ever higher (because it’s on and selling power less than expected). Instead of building that peaker plant, the better answer is to manage demand.
