How dry is it in New Mexico? It’s been a hundred years since it’s been this dry.

The last time we had any measurable precipitation at Albuquerque’s airport weather station, where we keep the records, was Oct. 4. That’s 90 days, the driest start to a water year since 1917-18.

It’s really dry here.

  2. John Fleck has been very optimistic about our water future, so when he gets a little pessimistic we need to pay attention. It’s true that when it snows and rains, people get very complacent. This has been more than frustrating for water Planners as we get drowned out by all the “grow the economy” hype in good times.
