Writing v. Typing

In commenting on Jack Kerouac's On the Road, Truman Capote is said to have offered, "That's not writing. That's typing." Perhaps that's my problem, Christian. I just type real fast.

I can see this becoming an issue with Planet-style sites - many bloggers write on diverse topics, while Planets are focused on something specific.

One solution is to use categories[1]. Each category can have it's own RSS feed. Then you can use your categories as distribution lists, routing your posts to the reader groups of your choice. And you can still have a main RSS feed with everything, for those that want it.

I'm already using categories, and I have a "free software" category that fits the p.g.o theme, if someone can show me some cut-and-paste MT code that would allow me to create multiple RSS feeds.

You can copy your existing RSS template, just set it up to generate feeds by category. Here's a HOWTO:
