    As an old pitcher and centerfielder, oftentimes those fine outfield grabs mean little to the outcome, but they mean much to the memory.

    The catches remain long after the score fades. The last full game I played I threw out two runners trying for extra bases, but I have no idea whether we won.

  2. In Triple-A ball, much is like that. Shanks wants to make it to the big club, so that fine outfield grab means the world to him, even if it didn’t change the outcome of the game.
